Blockchain-based poker platform Virtue Poker is dipping its toes into the Non-Fungible Tokens industry. The team is also organizing a Celebrity Poker Charity Tournament on Twitch, featuring some renowned players. During the event, several NFTs will be distributed to viewers.
A Big Virtue Poker Tournament
The celebrity poker charity tournament by Virtue Poker serves multiple purposes. First of all, it will highlight the benefits of playing poker on the Ethereum blockchain fairly and transparently. As a peer-to-peer platform incubated by ConsenSys in 2016, Virtue Poker has built up a solid reputation over the years. The project has received initial backing by numerous renowned investors, including DGR Group, Fenbushi Capital, Pantera Capital, and others.
Virtue Poker is now expanding its reach through the Non-Fungible Token industry to take the next step in its evolution. The team will give away several of these NFTs during the upcoming celebrity poker charity tournament on the Twitch platforms. Twelve participants will compete under no-limit Texas Hold ’em rules, including ConsenSys founder Joe Lubin, NBA hall of famer Paul Pierce, Phil Ivey, Nick Rose, Ran Neuner, and others.
Hall of Famer and Virtue Poker Team Pro Phil Ivey comments:
“After working with the Virtue Poker team for over three years, I’m excited to finally see the platform launch and be part of their first live stream event. This showcase will drive both awareness to an innovative platform as well as contribute towards a good cause.”
All the proceeds from this tournament will go to a charity of choice by the winner. Participants will compete across two tables, with the three remaining players from each table heading to the final. Twitch users can view the action through the main Twitch channel or by watching streams by the individual players.
Successful Funding and IDO
The upcoming tournament will bring more attention to the Virtue Poker ecosystem and its upcoming venture into Non-Fungible Tokens. This tournament will follow after the team’s Initial DEX Offering (IDO), which will occur on the SuperStarter platform come May 28, 2021. This IDO coincides with Virtue Poker’s real-money launch. With the help of SuperStarter – developed by SuperFarm – the role of NFTs will become more apparent.
In April 2021, the Virtue Poker team completed an investment round valued at 5 million USD. With the IDO and charity poker tournament coming up, the project’s appeal will continue to grow across the board. It is crucial for cryptocurrency and blockchain projects to expand their reach whenever possible. Gaining extra exposure through Twitch, a platform that continues to note an ongoing explosion in popularity will prove beneficial to Virtue Poker and the competitors in this charity tournament.
